Workplace & Pension Funds

Your pension might already
have a halal option.

If you're auto-enrolled into a UK workplace pension, you may be able to switch your existing contributions into a Shariah-compliant fund without opening anything new. Check with your employer or pension provider to confirm what's actually on offer.

Nest Sharia Fund

Nest (National Employment Savings Trust)

Access via
Auto-enrolment workplace pension, if your employer uses Nest
Allocation
70% equity / 30% sukuk (changed from 100% equity in November 2024)

Open to any Nest member to select, regardless of religion. Whether you can transfer other pensions into it without an active Nest employer relationship is unclear and should be checked directly with Nest.

Fund-specific OCF was not independently verified; Nest's general scheme charge structure applies pension-wide, not specifically to this fund. Verify the current charge directly with Nest before relying on it.

The People's Pension Shariah Fund

B&CE (The People's Pension)

Access via
Auto-enrolment workplace pension, if your employer uses The People's Pension
Allocation
Shariah-screened global equities

Selecting this fund requires moving 100% of your pension savings into it: there's no partial blend with other fund choices.

Fee and exact holdings should be checked on The People's Pension's current factsheet, as these can change.

Claims that other providers (PensionBee, Penfold, Aviva, etc.) all use the same underlying fund for their Shariah pension option come from a single secondary source and were not independently confirmed against each provider's own factsheet. If a specific provider matters to you, check their current fund range directly.
