Halal Index Funds

Index funds, not ETFs.
What's the difference?

An index fund is bought and sold directly through your platform at the end of the trading day, rather than traded on an exchange like an ETF. Many UK pensions and SIPPs only offer funds, not ETFs, so it's worth knowing what's available.

HSBC Islamic Global Equity Index Fund

HSBC Asset Management · tracks Dow Jones Islamic Market Titans 100 Index

An open-ended global index fund (not an ETF): you buy and sell units directly through a platform rather than trading on an exchange. Tracks 100 large, Shariah-screened companies worldwide. This fund has multiple share classes with different fees, so the exact OCF you pay depends on which one your platform offers.

Sources disagreed on this fund's exact launch date and total assets under management (one figure suggested a 2000 launch, another referenced November 2022). Treat headline AUM and inception-date claims as unverified until checked against HSBC's current factsheet. Other share classes exist (institutional and different currency lines) with different ISINs and fees; always check the OCF of the specific share class your platform actually offers before investing.

As far as we could verify, this is the only mainstream Islamic index OEIC widely available to UK retail investors. There is currently no direct competitor from another major UK fund house. If a low-cost, diversified, exchange-traded alternative suits you better, see the full ETF list .
